Machine learning models that work with images as information, each a dense grid of neighbouring pixels with defined values, have to process large sets of images, collected and categorised for a particular operational task.

Oxford-120 Flowers has been one of the most widely used datasets by 2022, consisting of 8189 images of 102 categories of flowers. Each flower is represented in 40 to 258 photographs extracted from across the Internet. Introduced as a dataset for an Automated Flower Classification model, the images were labeled and ordered according to the plant species.

The work unpacks the dataset to project the images in unchanged order. The flickering pace lays out plant protagonists bridging space and time. The photographs cannot be viewed individually.
